Antique printed color folding tourist map of Rome, Italy, by G. B. Maggi, 1873. This map has been sectioned into 32 sections that are backed on linen, making the map foldable. This fascinating map shows in red the areas that were currently under construction and in black the structures that were being demolished. A key on the top right indicates notable sights of Ancient Rome, while the key at the bottom right points to modern Rome. An inset map on the lower left illustrates the area around the city. On the map you can see the Colosseum, Pantheon, St. Peter's Basilica, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and more. All writing is in Italian. Good condition with some wear along the linen fold lines with some toning and the paper separating slightly from the linen at the corners. Comes attached to its original jacket, which can be folded under to frame. Measures approx. 24.5 x 32.75 inches to the neatline.
