Antique hand colored map from the Atlas of the Hudson River Valley from New York City to Troy Including a Section of about 8 Miles in Width published in 1891 by Watson & Co. under the supervision of F.W. Beers. Includes Upper Manhattan with central park, Union, North Bergen, Edgewater, Harlem, Washington Heights, the Bronx, Randalls and Ward Islands when they were still separate, the grounds of the Long Island Jockey Club (now con Edison electric plant), and Rikers Island before it was expanded from 90 acres to 415 acres. Shows street grid, some street numbers for buildings, parks, cemeteries, railroads, borders, major land and water features etc. Colored by district. In very good antique condition with toning, slight wear at the paper edges, and marks from the leather tab in the margins. Backed with linen, with center fold as issued. Tight margin on bottom. Measures approximately 19.5 x 29 inches to the neatline.
