Hand-colored antique report chart of the New England coast, published in the Annual Report of the US Coast Survey in 1879. Includes Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Narragansett Bay, Boston Harbor, Cape Ann, the Maine coast up to Portland, Lake Winnipesaukee, and more. With triangulation, and insets with Sub Sketches, Shewing the Position of Davis' Shoal discovered in 1846, Cultivator and George's Shoals, and the survey of Lake Champlain. Very good condition, paper is toned, toning along fold lines, some small tears at the paper edges and separation at the folds, and some tiny holes at fold intersections. Embossed with a stamp from Essex Institute in lower right corner. Measures approx. 29.75 x 23.25 inches.
