Genuine Antique Map

1895

Maker: Rand McNally

Antique printed color page with a map of Florida on one side and a map of Alabama on the other, published in the "Atlas of The World," by Rand McNally, 1895. Florida map includes two inset maps- one showing the southern portion of Florida at the same scale as the main map, and one "showing parts of Lake, Orange, and Volusia Counties". Both state maps are colored by county and include railroads, towns and cities, bodies of water, some topographical detail, etc. Both maps are also surrounded by text outside the neatline which details the land area, water area, state population by certain categories ("male, female, native, foreign, white, African, Chinese, Japanese, Indian",) a list of the counties, and then a list of the chief cities with their respective populations. Very good antique condition with mild toning of the paper, which is darker and includes some minor staining/soiling at the outer edges. Map of Florida measures approximately 9" x 12.5" to the neatline. Map of Alabama measures approx. 12.5" x 9.25" to the neatline.
