Antique hand colored map of a portion of the southeastern United States, showing Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida, by E.J. Huntington, 1838. Includes a table of distances between cities in the region in the lower right corner, oriented perpendicular to the map. Shows topographical detail, and includes a reference key which denotes capitals, county and chief towns, smaller towns and villages, canals, and railroads. The corners of the border include decorative compass rose-like shapes. Very good antique condition overall with very mild toning throughout, minor creasing of the paper near the top corners, and some mild staining and very minor color loss along the center fold, as well as some seam separation at the very bottom of the center fold. Measures approximately 11" x 18.25" to the neatline.
