Antique hand colored map from The American Atlas, by Carey & Lea, 1822. Surrounded by text with information on topography and water bodies, population and history. Map was apparently printed on sheet upside-down from the direction of the text, making the text upside-down when the map is right-side up. We have never seen this error before and it is surprising that it made it into the atlas! Good condition, some overall toning, darkened along center glue line. Entire sheet measures approx. 16.75 x 20.5 inches.
