Antique print, matted, relating to the historic Boston fire in 1872. The Illustrated London News published these scenes of Boston, made before the fire, to begin their article about the devastation from the conflagration. These images of handsome buildings and orderly streets made the following images of devastation more dramatic to the readers in England. Includes 4 scenes: Tremont Street, Winthrop Square, State Street and Franklin Street, approximately 15" x 9 1/2", very good condition with a few minor age spots. Hand-coloring is recent.
