Antique printed color statistical map of the United States, published in the "Statistical Atlas of the United States based on the results of the Ninth Census 1870 with Contributions from many Eminent Men of Science and several Departments of the Government," compiled by Francis A Walker, Julius Bien lithographer. The Progress of the Nation - 1870. Map showing, in Five Degrees of Density, the Distribution, within the Territory East of the 100th Meridian of the Population of the United States (excluding Indians not Taxed). Compiled from the Returns of population at the Ninth Census of the United States, 1870. Star shows the Centre of Population. Includes Indian (Native American Indian) Reservations and Range or Hunting Grounds from information furnished by the Office of Indian Affairs of date 1871. Very good condition with some minor stains, mostly in the margin. A small tear at bottom that barely goes into the map. Measures approx. 19.5 x 28.25 inches to the neatline.
