Antique hand-colored map of Athens, Greece, in ancient times, published in 1850 by the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. With exquisite detail of the ancient edifices, walls, the route of the Panathenaic Procession, and more. An inset shows a detailed plan of the Acropolis of Athens. At bottom is a comparison of the well-known temples and buildings, along with two "restored" views of the Acropolis. At top and sides are a panorama of Athens. Very good overall antique condition, with some toning and wear at the paper edges. On back side of paper there is non-archival tape. Measures approx. 13.25 x 16 inches to the printed edges. (h x w)
