Antique map of Brecknockshire, also known as County of Brecon, one of the historic counties of Wales, as the index page to a set of maps showing the road from Chester to Cardiff. Early antique black and white engraved strip road map showing part of the road from Chester, England to Cardiff, Wales, as split into parts. This is sheet one of a multiple sheet series, however we do not have the other sheets. Published by the London Magazine, c. 1767. Includes illustrated topographical details, houses, churches, cities, etc. The Arms of Chester are shown. Good overall antique condition with mild toning that is darker at the paper edges, some light stains. The hand-coloring on the Brecknockshire side is recent. The sheet measures approximately 5.25 x 8 (H x W).
