Uncommon antique railroad map of the Southern US showing the Southern Pacific Railroad and connections in 1882, published by Rand, McNally & Co. We can find only one other example of this map, which is in the collection of the Huntington Library in California. The alternate title at the top is "Route of the True Southern Inter-Oceanic Railroad" and at bottom is a table of distances including some uncompleted gaps. The railroad was completed in 1883. Original printed color with folds as issued. Good to very good antique condition with overall toning, some slight wrinkles in the light-weight paper, some minor tears at the edges, and very mild foxing/stains mostly in margin. Fragile. Measures approx. 9.5 x 26.5 inches to the neatline and 14 x 28 inches to the paper edges.
