Antique map of the USA showing elevation and topography, published by the US Geological Survey in their 1892 Annual Report. Printed color, with some color transfer from being folded. Henry Gannett was an American geographer who is described as the "father of mapmaking in America." He was the chief geographer for the United States Geological Survey essentially from its founding until 1902. He was also a founding member and president of the National Geographic Society. Good antique condition with stains from the color transfer, and a repaired tear at one of the fold intersections. Some mild foxing. Measures approx. 17.5 x 28.25 inches to the neatline.
