1947 circa
Maker: American Airlines / General Drafting Co. Inc.
Antique printed-color pictorial map of the United States showing the flight system of American Airlines, c. 1947. The map is undated but American Airlines added a route from Tulsa to Los Angeles to their route maps in 1947. This map does not include a route from Chicago to Los Angeles that was added to their route maps in 1948. Double-sided: on one side is a map of the USA, and on the other side are close-up route maps of major American Airline routes. The red lines are American Airlines flights, and the map also includes other flights, seasonal flights, the distances between cities, the elevation of the airport in each city, and more. The illustrations that fill the map depict pasttimes, monuments, buildings, crops, history, and more. These maps were published more than once with routes added as necessary. Published as a folding map, this item retains its folds. Very good condition with some mild wear at the fold lines. Approx. 24 x 32 inches to the paper edges.
