Hand colored antique coast survey chart showing a Base Line in the San Francisco area. Published by the U.S. Coast Survey in 1854. Based on the Sub-Sketch showing the position of Pulgas Base, it seems this was probably in the area near modern Palo Alto. Includes the location of the Embarcadero and lands owned by Jones, Steinbergen and Carr. Elevation profile of the base line at bottom. Very good antique condition with some minor toning and slight staining. Measures approx. 8.25 x 12.25 inches to the neatline.
