Fascinating map of California that is colored by the Mean Annual Temperature, published by the Southern Pacific Company in 1894. In addition to in addition to climatic (temperature) information, this map also shows numerous towns and cities, railroad lines, and the tallest mountain peaks in the state with their elevation. On verso are charts comparing the mean temperatures in various years, and comparing the temperatures of places in California to famous places in the "Old World." This is a beautiful map with climate information for California from the end of the 19th century that is as interesting today as it was when it was published, if not more so. Very good antique condition with some toning that is darkest on the back side. Measures approx. 30 x 10 inches to the paper edges.
