1795
Maker: Neele
Antique map of the world, engraved by Neele, 1795. This map was probably published in a Gazeteer and it shows the world as it was known at the time, including the advancing understanding of northwest North America and the Pacific. Tasmania is still shown as attached to Australia and the shape of Japan has yet to be accurately drawn. There is just a hint of Antarctica on the Western Hemisphere side. This map has been handsomely framed in a burl wood frame with green mat. Good antique condition with folds as issued, some minor wrinkles, and some spots and stains that do not detract from the map. Measures approx. 6 x 10.5 inches to the edges of the printed area, and 13 x 16.75 inches to the edged of the frame.
