1831
Maker: Teesdale
Antique map of the Eastern Hemisphere by Henry Teesdale, 1831. This map features Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and some of Oceania. Very little was known of Africa (by Europeans) at this time, thus the large empty area labeled Parts Unknown. This map also shows a large Ottoman Empire, a large Tibet, and some areas, such as the coast of New Guinea, left unfinished because they were uncharted. Routes Captain Cook's voyages fill the oceans. Antarctica is absent. Fair condition with uneven toning, a visible glue strip at the center fold, some spots and foxing. Measures approx. 14.5 x 18 inches to the paper edges. Priced as-is.
