1730
Maker: Johann George Schreiber
Antique map of the Americas from Shreiber's Atlas Minor, 1730. This map shows California as an island, a large Terra Esonis Incognita to the northwest, a large Spanish Florida, a mysterious landmass near Tierra del Fuego, a river with a series of lakes that connect the Gulf of Mexico and the Straits of Anian and Pacific Ocean, Quivira (the legendary city of gold), an interesting representation of the Great Lakes, a series of imaginary islands in the Pacific, and the Solomon Islands much larger and closer to South America. A truly fascinating map to study! Framed with a strange style of mat and should probably be reframed. Map appears to be in very good condition with slight fading of the color. Measures approx. 6.75 x 9 inches to the neatline. ***Shipping a framed map costs more than shipping an unframed map. If you would prefer to buy this map without the frame and save on shipping costs, please contact us. Price remains the same with or without the frame.
