Antique natural history map of the world showing the precipitation of the world from the Atlas of Physical Geography by Alexander Keith Johnston, printed by William Blackwood & Sons, 1869. The full title is: "The Distribution of Rain and Snow over the Globe, Showing the decrease of Moisture from the Tropical towards the Polar Regions, the Districts of Periodical and Seasonal Rains, and those in which No Rain Falls." At bottom is a diagram comparing the elevations at which snow rests, as well as a comparison of the increase of rain with heat and the decrease of rain with distance from coasts. Original printed-color. Good antique condition with mild foxing. Thick paper with a gilded edge. Measures approx. 9.25 x 12 inches to the neatline. Pages with text relating to the images will be included (some will be photocopies).
