Antique hand colored map from "Atlas of Physical Geography" published c.1850 by Petermann and Milner. This map of the world shows active volcanoes and also highlights areas of the world most visited by earthquakes. Includes an inset map showing the area of an earthquake on the Rhine in 1846, a sketch showing the volcanoes of the globe divided into four systems, and a comparison of the heights of volcanoes. Engraved by J Dower. Very good condition with some minor signs of age, such as spots, toning. Measures approximately 8.5 inches by 11.25 inches, as measured to the neatline.
